Yellowstone Virtual Tour

Minerva Terrace

In observance of the partial reopening of Yellowstone National Park, I wanted to share these watercolor images from 1897. History Trover kindly gave me permission to photoshop the art work found in a book her mother collected many years ago.

I love history and photography so this was an interesting discovery especially when you consider that the artist, F. Jay Haynes, pre-dated Ansel Adams. In fact, Haynes was the Official Photographer and Concessionaire of Yellowstone National Park twenty years before Adams was born.

Haynes illustrated guide books which were sold at the park concession. Photoshop was able to restore color and detail to these wonderful and historically relevant images which appear in their content order.
