Well, maybe not the silliest of all time, but it certainly presents a comical reminder of the worst of times — the COVID lockdown.
I could not find bathroom tissue for six months. Finally, one store received a delivery, but it was limited to one per customer. The store manager explained that there really wasn’t a shortage. The problem, he said, was that people were hoarding products simply out of fear.
So that meant someone else had a closet full of bathroom tissue while the rest of us had none. Not even a square to spare. There’s a lesson there somewhere. The manager said that if people had just bought normally, stores would have remained fully stocked.
The lockdown presented an interesting study of human behavior and psychology. For instance, a woman was observing and trailing me as I filmed this video and when I looked down to check my camera settings, she stole my bathroom tissue and ran down the street.
For context, this video was made at Easter in 2020 when we were only allowed to go outside for exercise or errands. Someone emailed me and said it was the funniest thing he’s ever seen. I don’t know about that, but it still makes me chuckle.
